Fermentation Vessel, with bored lid
Where the magic happens!
To measure optimum temperature for yeast fermentation
For mixing in the sugar, and later for aeration
1m syphon tube
For transfer to cask/bottles
Measures gravity at start and end of the brew, to ascertain what the ABV will be.
Bubbler and Grommet
A one-way valve that allows gas released by fermentation to escape, whilst preventing oxygen or contamination getting into the brew.
Essential for keeping all equipment and containers clean and free from contaminants.
This equipment can be purchased together as a Starter Kit for a discounted price of £24, from our online shop or instore.
For Kit Brews you'll also need:
A Beer Kit (most kits produce around 40 pints, but there are some variants - our kits are available to buy here)
Brewing sugar (if necessary - some larger kits already contain the necessary sugars for fermentation)
For malt-extract boils you will need:
A 33l boiler with a temperature control
Malt extract or Spraymalt
For full-mash brews you'll also need:
All of the equipment above - excluding malt extract/spraymalt
A Mash tun - a temperature-controlled container with a filtered tap, to soak the grain and extract the sugars
Malt or Barley (this is dependent on recipe, and comes in various forms, each adding their own flavours and complexity to a beer)
